FAQ

Why does the Right To Repair matter anyway?

As time goes on, e-waste builds up. Manufacturers who claim to care about the Earth are proving that they don’t by making their devices harder to take apart by and using software locks to deter third parties from repairing them. You brought the device so you should be able to choose who fixes it. The Right To Repair movement is about holding manufacturers accountable and requiring them to provide schematics (repair diagrams) and spare parts. Furthermore, their devices should be designed with repair in mind. The end result would be nothing but good for the end user and the environment.

Can I mail-in my device for a repair?

Absolutely. Please contact us via our devices we fix page and we’ll be happy to provide a quote and further instructions for you.

How much is postage?

Postage for smaller items such as a smartphone or a tablet is usually under £5. For larger items, such as a laptop or a PlayStation, it is usually under £10. Both options include £150 worth of insurance which can be increased for an additional cost. We will reimburse you for the postage (but not additional insurance if ordered) if you choose to proceed with the repair.

How should I post a large or bulky item?

To ensure safe transit, please package your good(s) appropriately. Use plenty of padding and a sturdy box. Shredded paper is a great alternative to bubble wrap if you don’t have any. We will choose a suitable courier for your item but it’s your responsibility to package it properly.

Do you warranty your repairs?

Our repairs come with a 90 day guarantee. Should any part of our repair fail, we will fix your device again free of charge. Unrelated faults or those caused by neglect are not covered. Refurbished devices come with a 365 day guarantee.

What if my device can't be repaired?

If our repair attempt fails, or if a diagnosis reveals your device isn’t economical to repair, we can recycle it for you at no cost. Alternatively, we can post it back to you at your expense so you can recycle it yourself.
