What is Sustainability?

Sustainability is the ability to maintain or support a process continuously over time. In practice, it is the idea of re-using, repairing or repurposing what we already have and making it last as long as possible to ensure we make the best use of the Earth’s limited resources.

Re-using, repairing and re-purposing are, therefore essential. By buying refurbished, YOU are acting with sustainability in mind and playing a part in making sure Earth’s limited resources last as long as possible.

In a fully sustainable world, we would re-use everything, consume as little as possible and think about the impact all our choices make. It obviously isn’t practical to repair everything but as a collective we throw far too much away, use too many resources and create far more pollution than necessary.

Sustainability is Our Core Value

  • We perform repairs at the motherboard level thus avoiding the need to buy a replacement one.

  • All of the I.T. equipment used here at Repair Wins is refurbished or was repaired by us, prior to use.

  • We always recommend our customers upgrade their existing hardware and carry on using it, only suggesting a replacement where an upgrade isn’t practical.

  • We buy as many of our parts and tools as possible from local suppliers and British companies so they travel the least distance to us, reducing their environmental impact.

  • We can repair your electronics. Please click on the link below for a quote:

Why buy Refurbished?

  • Buying a refurbished device is far more environmentally friendly.

    • It is far less resource intensive to refurbish a device than to build a brand new one.

  • Our refurbished goods are thoroughly tested and guaranteed, just like new items are.

  • Our refurbished goods are cleaned and come without without dust, dirt, oily fingerprints, etc.

  • Buying refurbished technology is cheaper than buying new.

  • Like new products, they are packaged suitably so they arrive safely.

  • When refurbished properly, you’d be hard pressed to tell the device has even been used.

  • You get more choice - If cosmetics aren’t a huge concern, you can purchase a lower grade of device for an even greater saving.

  • A device that is a few generations old still performs well and provides all the features the majority of us need.

We Generate too Much Waste

According to research done by the Waste & Resources Action Programme, almost a quarter of WEEE is reusable. Their study was carried out in 2011 but is just as relevant today.

  • One of the main issues is that there are no incentives whatsoever for manufacturers or governments to release guidance pushing people to re-use their devices as opposed to replace them.

  • If something is old, deemed ugly or it has a minor, easily repaired defect, it is often sent to landfill. By repairing or giving away these devices, we would save millions of tonnes of CO2 annually.

  • If you have goods you don’t know what to do with, please get in touch. We can help you dispose of them responsibly and keep them out of landfill. Whether that means resale, donating them to people in need, stripping them for spare parts or using them to train technicians.
